Donna Briggs Foundation Holds Second Annual Tourney

Members of the Donna Briggs Foundation held their second annual Cornhole Tournament and Auction on Saturday, July 13, at the Hudson VFW Post 5791.
Briggs, of Derry, who was a retired police Sgt. with the Hudson Police Department, was tragically killed while riding her bike along Route 125 in Kingston back in 2021. She was training for her second Police Unity Tour when she was struck from behind in a hit and run accident.

According to The Donna Briggs Foundation President, Eden Gallant, who spoke briefly before the tournament began, the group raised over $10,000 from sponsors this year before the tourney even began.
The money raised is earmarked for Camp Resilience, a camp for military veterans, first responders, and their families.
Along with the tournament registration, additional money was raised through Silent Auction items and Raffle Baskets.
Gallant spoke after the event, “We formed the foundation July 2023 to help further Donna’s vision of providing trauma related care for all first responders. We do this event because Donna loved corn-hole and the raffles and silent auction items we get from generous businesses, friends, family and just people who knew Donna and want to help, enable us to provide help to first responders, and their families, as they battle PTSD, mental health issues and daily challenges of their jobs. Donna always advocated for those who were unable to do it on their own, so we are now carrying her vision forward.”
She added “We donate a significant portion to Camp Resilience, a 501c3 out of Gilford, that offers 3-4 day retreats for first responders and veterans to bounce back and improve in mind, body and spirit.
Donna was registered to go to the First Responder Peer Support Retreat in October and was a great human being and well respected in the law enforcement community, and left a lasting impression on everyone she met.”
Donna completed 20-years at Hudson P.D. and retired as a sergeant, she then went on to become a massage therapist and worked on many first responders.
The group will be having their third Annual Donna Briggs Foundation Cornhole Tourney and Auction on June 28, 2025 at The Hudson VFW.
The money raised this year came from significant sponsorships from numerous local businesses and local Police Departments and from those who knew her – or of her and wanted to support our great cause.
There were about a dozen cornhole courts set up at the VFW post with tournament winners recieving cash prizes.
The first place winners of the tourney were: “The Mariah Carey Fan Club” Jermaine King and Mike Silva, they won $150 each. Second Place went to: “Bean Bag Toss” Travis Gelo and Erin Bock, $75 each, and Third Place was taken by “Uphill MC” Seng Sao and Hillary Heng, $40 each.
The event, with the corn-hole tournament, all the raffles, silent auction, Donna Briggs merchandise sales, and donations that day, came to about $12,000, which was huge. They had a lot of people show up and the raffles and silent auction items were a big hit.
