At the Sept. 23 Hudson School Board meeting, one of the agenda items was in regards to how they would go about the annual State of the Town meeting.
School Board Chair, Maureen Dionne, explained that there was a warrant article passed a couple of years ago that requiring the School Board and the Board of Selectmen to have an annual State of the Town meeting.
She explained that they have different variations on how they have done it, including having a brief Q+A and then focused questions, and how they did it last year, which was more of an informal conversation.
Dionne said she wanted to see if the Board had any particular way they were looking to handle it this year, or if anyone had any particular preferences on how they handle it.
Board member, Ethan Beals, said that he “strongly prefers the more informal,” meeting style.
School Board Vice Chair, Mike Campbell, said he also prefers the more informal way of doing it.
Beals also noted that the feedback they had received is that people preferred the informal options.
“I think the feedback was also positive the last few years,” Dionne said.
No decision was made on the date, with Dionne saying she would speak with Board of Selectmen Chair, Bob Guessferd .
Also during the meeting, the School Board was presented with a request to allow the use of the Hills House properties for a number of upcoming events.
“Alvirne would like your support in holding upcoming school activities at the Hills House property,” the memo from Alvirne High School Principal, Steve Beals, read. “Currently all our home cross country meets, the NHIAA Division 1 JV meet, and the NHIAA Meet of Champions are held onsite and annually. All these dates were shared with the Hudson Historical Society.”
It was also noted that the “facilities forms have been completed and are on file at the SAU for these activities.”
Another request was for an upcoming color run.
“Alvirne Booster Club sponsored fun run for the greater Hudson Community with “color” stations for the participants,” the memo stated. “The event will be held on Saturday, October 6th. The date has been shared with the Hudson Historical Society.”
The third event being requested was for a haunted hayride, which would be a fundraiser to support Class Act Thespians.
“The dates are dress rehearsal on October 17th with the actual fundraiser of October 18 and 19th,” the memo stated. “The dates have been shared with the Hudson Historical Society.”
On an unanimous vote, the School Board approved the various requests.
The next School Board meeting is slated to take place on Oct. 7.
