The Greater Derry Track Club’s (GDTC) popular Kids Summer Fun Runs concluded their weekly summer series on Monday, July 27, with the fifth and final week of competition. The season wrapped up with the annual awards ceremony after 352 runners participated in the final evening of races.
Over the course of this year’s series, nearly 600 bibs were issued to young runners, highlighting the continued popularity of the longstanding summer tradition.
The club has hosted the Fun Runs for nearly 50 years, with the Kids Summer Fun Runs now in their 40th season.
Each Monday evening throughout July and into August, the GDTC welcomed hundreds of young runners and their families to the Londonderry High School track for an evening of friendly competition, fitness, and fun.
Overall Champions
Girls
Girls 9 (600 meters): Natalie Fell of Danville captured first place, Zoe Edwards of Londonderry finished second, and Emerson Rowe of Londonderry placed third.
Girls 10 (600 meters): Ava Varsalone of Chester earned first place, Penelope Lynch of Londonderry was second, and Macie King of Pelham finished third.
Girls 11 (Cross Country Mile): Sasha Solovyeva of Hudson claimed the championship, Mackenzie Bonia of Hooksett finished second, and Adria Dufour of Londonderry placed third.
Girls 12 (Cross Country Mile): Finley Darsney of Derry was the lone competitor and earned the division title.
Girls 13 (Cross Country Mile): Corinne Tinkham of Litchfield finished first, while fellow Litchfield runner Ava Miller placed second.
Boys
Boys 9 (600 meters): Parker Rizzo of Londonderry claimed first place, followed by Colin Runey of Windham in second and Oliver Capone of Londonderry in third.
Boys 10 (600 meters): Joshua Tiney of Sandown captured the title, Ryan Sanariya of Londonderry finished second, and Greyson MacLeod of Derry placed third.
Boys 11 (Cross Country Mile): Liam Kobisky of Derry earned first place, Will Runey of Windham finished second, and Luke Lefebvre of Windham took third.
Boys 12 (Cross Country Mile): T.J. Santosuosso of Derry claimed the championship, Tommy Mane of Windham was second, and James Presher of Londonderry finished third.
Boys 13 (Cross Country Mile): Andrew Solovyev of Hudson finished first, Brandon Kuncik of Derry placed second, and Landon Barczak of Londonderry rounded out the top three.
The annual series once again provided young runners of all ages with an opportunity to stay active, compete in a fun and encouraging environment, and celebrate their accomplishments throughout the summer.
