The Hudson Board of Selectmen unanimously approved moving forward with a grant application seeking up to $339,000 in funding for a regional water main project during its most recent meeting.
Hudson Director of Development Services Elvis Dhima explained that the Town “has been advancing the design of a water infrastructure project originally intended to address Hudson’s local water system needs.”
“Through coordination with the State and regional stakeholders, it was determined that the project could be expanded to accommodate broader regional water supply needs,” he said.
Dhima explained that the expanded scope “requires additional design work associated with the larger regional water main, including revised routing, connections, permitting, and related engineering efforts. Weston & Sampson has prepared a revised scope and fee of approximately $279,000 for this work.”
“The Town is seeking a 100% reimbursement grant totaling $339,000, with no local match required,” Dhima said.
According to Dhima, the proposed grant funding includes approximately $279,000 for the Weston & Sampson regional design contract; up to $30,000 for permit and application fees, additional permitting efforts, and unforeseen engineering or regulatory costs; and up to $30,000 for engineering support during the bidding phase.
“The two $30,000 allowances would be maintained separately from the Weston & Sampson contract and utilized by the Town only as needed,” Dhima explained. “The Development Services Director will serve as the Town’s point of contact for the grant application and associated project coordination.”
The Board of Selectmen unanimously approved authorizing staff to apply for the grant, which would provide up to $339,000 in funding for the regional water main project with 100% reimbursement and no required local match. The board also designated the Development Services Director as the Town’s point of contact for the application and project coordination.
The Board of Selectmen also reviewed a request to acknowledge the completion of a private sewer force main project.
“The Planning Board previously approved a site plan that included the installation of a private sewer force main to serve five lots,” Dhima explained. “The approved scope of work consisted of approximately 225 linear feet of 8-inch main, located within a private road on Cyrah Way. The gravity main is to remain private and maintained by a third party. The work has been completed in accordance with the Town’s construction standards and has successfully passed the required deflection, pressure and vacuum testing.”
The Board of Selectmen approved acknowledging that the private force main was constructed in accordance with Town standards, as recommended by the Public Works Director, the Municipal Utility Committee, and the Development Services Director.
