Community Power Rate to Increase 38% on Aug. 1

According to a news release posted to the town of Hudson website, there will be a Community Power Rate change effective Aug. 1, 2025 with the Community Power Coalition of New Hampshire setting its new electricity rates for the six-month rate period beginning next month.
Community Power’s default “Granite Basic” electricity supply rate for Hudson residential customers will be 13.419 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh), effective Aug. 1, 2025, through Jan. 31, 2026. It’s a 3.719-cent, or 38.3%, per kWh increase above the current rate.
The release also stated, Eversource rates are also increasing, with the new rate for Eversource default electricity becoming 11.196 cents per kWh.
Based on usage of 650 kWh per month, the estimated cost for the Granite Basic plan is $87.22 per month for the electricity portion of the bill.
The estimated cost for the Eversource default rate would be $72.77 per month for the electricity portion.
Residents wishing to change their Energy Suppliers have choices for their electricity supply option, including: Hudson Community Power; Eversource; or a third-party competitive supplier, including those listed at the NH Department of Energy website: www.energy.nh.gov/engyapps/ceps/shop.aspx
Customers may opt into or out of Hudson Community Power and may return to Eversource supply service at any time using the following options:

  • Calling 1-866-603-7697 (open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays excluding holidays)
  • Emailing info@communitypowernh.gov
  • Visiting www.communitypowernh.gov/granite-basic andusing the customer portal.

Residents should have the utility account number handy, printed on your electric bill, so your request can easily be processed.
There are no fees for switching between Hudson Community Power and Eversource supply service.
Switches should be processed as of the next available regular meter reading date.
