The National Wreaths Across America Day took place in Hudson at the Hills House on Saturday, Dec, 14. The Hudson Memorial VFW Post 5791 and Auxiliary are the official sponsor of the event and Christina Madden headed up the effort in purchasing nearly 400 wreaths to be placed at the graves of local veterans. The volunteers of this annual event have been participating in Wreath Day since 2019. The ceremony included the solemn presentation of Ceremonial Wreaths for each of the armed services, the Merchant Marine, and POW/MIA. In Hudson, two additional wreaths are presented by the Knights of Columbus for the several hundred veterans buried in St. Partick’s and Holy Cross Cemeteries where wreath laying is not allowed.
After the ceremony, volunteers embarked on laying the wreaths eight participating cemeteries,
This year’s theme is to “Live with Purpose,” inspired by the volunteers who lead impactful work in their communities. In 2007, The Wreaths Across America non-profit group was founded in 2007. Photos by Chris Paul
