Alvirne’s football team bounced back from three consecutive losses with a 19-13 road victory over the Dover Green Wave on Friday night, Oct. 23.
The Broncos scored a season-high 19 points to secure the Division I win, improving their record to 3-5 and giving the team a boost heading into the final game of the regular season.
Alvirne had previously scored 18 points in its Oct. 2 game against Manchester Central, which had been its highest offensive output of the season. The Broncos also scored 17 points in wins over Spaulding and in their Oct. 16 game against Salem.
The victory came two weeks after Alvirne suffered a 47-0 loss to Londonderry. In that game, the Broncos were held to 142-yards of total offense, including 96 rushing yards and 46 passing yards.
The win over Dover gives Alvirne momentum as it prepares for its next matchup against the always very tough Pinkerton Academy Astros who are coming into the game at 5-2 against Division I rivals.
Dover fell to 2-6 with the loss and was scheduled to face Manchester Memorial the following week.
Alvirne’s final home game is scheduled for Friday night, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m.
