The Alvirne High School girls’ soccer team had a difficult stretch last week, dropping three games while playing to a scoreless tie against Nashua South.
The Broncos opened the week on Monday, Sept. 21, with a 3-1 home loss to Bedford.

Alvirne’s lone goal came from Angie Rivera, who found the back of the net with an assist from Avery Newton. Goalkeeper Samara Bryant turned in a nine-save performance in the loss.
Two days later, the Broncos traveled to Timberlane Regional High School, where the Owls shut out Alvirne, 3-0. Timberlane’s three-goal victory is also confirmed in the published game results.
The Broncos bounced back defensively on Thursday, Sept. 24, traveling to Nashua South and battling the Purple Panthers to a 0-0 draw.
Alvirne returned home on Saturday, Sept. 26, but ran into a strong Exeter team and suffered a 7-1 loss to the Blue Hawks.
The Broncos found themselves in a difficult position early, trailing 6-0 at halftime. Alvirne continued to battle in the second half and finally got on the scoreboard when Reese Wanamaker scored on an assist from Newton.
Bryant was busy throughout the contest, making 21 saves against the Blue Hawks.
Despite the three losses during the week, the Broncos were able to keep a clean sheet against Nashua South and continued to get strong goalkeeping from Bryant.
Alvirne will look to get back into the win column as the season continues.
