The Alvirne High School boys’ and girls’ soccer teams are heading into the final stretch of their seasons, with the girls picking up a shutout victory and the boys battling through a difficult run of games during the past two weeks.

The Broncos girls had just one game last week but made the most of it, earning a 3-0 victory over the Salem Blue Devils on Tuesday, Oct. 13, in Hudson for the team’s fourth victory this season.
Angie Rivera scored once, while Reese Wanamaker added two goals to lead the Alvirne offense. Goalkeeper Samara Bryant helped preserve the shutout with eight saves.
The victory gave the Broncos their third win of the season and provided a positive boost as they prepared for their final two games.
Alvirne will head into the final week of the regular season at 4-9-1 where they were scheduled to travel to Londonderry on Tuesday, Oct. 20, before heading to Portsmouth on Thursday, Oct. 22, for a 6 p.m. match-up against the Clippers.
BOYS
The boys’ team also earned a victory earlier in October, defeating Spaulding 4-1 at home on Tuesday, Oct. 6. However, the Broncos faced a challenging schedule in the days that followed.
Alvirne fell to Nashua North 3-0 on Oct. 8 before suffering a 4-0 loss to Salem on Oct. 13 and a 7-0 defeat at Bedford on Oct. 15.
The Broncos bounced back on Saturday, Oct. 17, earning a 2-2 tie against Portsmouth at home. The result gave the team a chance to finish its regular season on a positive note after a demanding stretch of competition.
Alvirne was scheduled to host Londonderry on Tuesday, Oct. 20, in its final listed regular-season match-up. The game offered the Broncos an opportunity to close out the season against a neighboring program.
With the regular season winding down, both Alvirne squads will look to build on their recent performances and finish strong.
