Alvirne Soccer Teams Chalk Up Much-Needed Victories

The Alvirne High School Girls’ Soccer team got its first win of the season, unfortunately it comes just before the final week of the regular season
The victory came on the road, at Spaulding High School in Rochester.


The Lady Broncos were able to get a 2-0 shutout victory against the Red Raiders on Thursday, Oct. 16.
One of the Alvirne goals was scored by forward Lia Moreau assisted by fellow forward Reese Wanamaker. The second point was put in by forward Leah Brown with the assist coming from defensive captain Anna Murphy.
Goaltender Abbie Kowalski solidified the victory with five saves in the Alvirne net.
The team’s first victory was unfortunately book-ended by two shutout losses at home.
The Winnacunnet Warriors came onto the Alvirne field on Tuesday, Oct. 14, and served up the Broncos tenth loss of the season, scoring eight unanswered goals.
The Alvirne girls’ week ended with another tough loss.
On Saturday, Oct. 18, the Pinkerton Academy Lady Astros came to Hudson and delivered a 6-0 loss to the home team, putting the AHS squad at 1-11-2 heading into the final week.
On Tuesday, Oct. 21, they faced Manchester Memorial (3-9-2) and on Thursday, Oct. 23 they will face the Windham Jaguars (3-7-4) for the teams final game of the season.

Bronco Boys
The Alvirne Boys Soccer squad put forth one of its biggest wins of the season to end their week.
The Broncos boys scored early and often to hand the Spaulding Red Raiders a 10-1 loss on Friday night, Oct. 17.
The victory came after a 0-6 loss on the seacoast to the Winnacunnet Warriors in Hampton.
The boys will finish the final week of the season with a game on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Manchester Memorial High School followed by a final home game on Thursday, Oct. 23, against the 9-2-3 Windham Jaguars.
