The Hudson School Board approved several key agenda items during its most recent meeting, including the date for Alvirne High School’s 2027 graduation ceremony, a fundraising request for the boys soccer team, and the annual Washington, D.C., field trip for Hudson Memorial School students.
Although graduation is still months away, board members voted unanimously to approve plans for Alvirne High School’s commencement ceremony.
According to a memo presented to the board, graduation will once again be held at SNHU Arena in Manchester.
“Alvirne High School would like to hold our 76th Commencement Exercise (Graduation) on Thursday June 10, 2027 at the SNHU Arena in Manchester beginning at 7 p.m.,” Alvirne High School Principal Steve Beals said. “The arena is holding the date for us, pending SAU and Board approval.”
The School Board unanimously approved the request.
Another agenda item involved a fundraising request from the boys soccer team.
“The Alvirne athletic department would like to request permission to have the boys’ soccer team engage in a challenge-based fundraising activity with Vertical Raise,” Alvirne High School Activities Director Justin Hufft said.
He explained that the team “will offer voluntary opportunities for their team members to solicit pledges in exchange for a performance feat related to their sport.”
Board members noted that School Board approval is required under district policy before teams can participate in fundraising activities.
“In accordance with Hudson School District Policy DFGA Crowdfunding, I am writing to request permission for these teams to utilize this fundraising vehicle,” Hufft explained.
Hufft said he was using “the format in section C of Policy DFGA, for Boys Soccer. Boys Soccer anticipates raising $5,000.”
The School Board unanimously approved the fundraising request.
The board also considered a request for the annual Washington, D.C., field trip for Hudson Memorial School eighth-grade students.
“I (am) writing to request the permission of the board for our 8th Grade students and a group of chaperones to attend the annual Washington, DC trip,” Hudson Memorial School Principal Keith Bowen explained in a memo to the School Board.
Bowen said the trip will mark the program’s 48th year and its 46th trip to Washington.
“Students and chaperones will travel via coach bus for a five day and four-night stay in the Washington, DC metro area,” Bowen explained. “Students will depart Hudson Memorial School on the morning of May 10th at 7am and arrive back at HMS on the evening of May 14th by approximately 10pm.”
The School Board unanimously approved the trip.
The next Hudson School Board meeting is set for Oct. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at Hills Memorial Library.
