Alvirne Girls Basketball Get Back-to-Back Victories

The Alvirne High School Girls’ Basketball team bumped it season record up to 6-4 last week with overwhelming victories over the Timberlane Owls and the Concord Crimson Tide.
Both wins were by substantial margins, the Owls were taken down by 29-points and the Tide was stopped by 37-points.


In the 62-33 victory over Timberlane, on Tuesday night, Jan. 21, the Lady Broncos were able to keep the Owls scoring in the single-digits for three of the four quarters, while AHS maintained between 18 and 19 points in three of four.
The visitors led 19-12 after one and had a 37-20 lead at halftime.
The third period results were the same, with a 18-7 difference, until the bench players came in to finish up.
Junior guard Lexi Floyd led the way in scoring, getting all of her points in the first half, with five outside the arc and a two-pointer for 17-points.
Senior forward Ella Hartson was second in scoring with 15-points for her team.
Hartson had two, three-pointers, three for two and went two-of-three at the foul line.
Sophomore forward Courtney Anderson hit for five baskets with 10-points.
Junior forward Julia Adams finished with seven-points, while juniors Taylor Small and Haylie Christman both had six in the game.
Following that convincing win, the Broncos were able to continue their winning ways when they hosted a game with the Crimson Tide on Friday night, Jan. 24.
In their second lopsided contest of the week, once again, the Bronco defense was able to keep the opposition scoring to single-digits in three of four quarters and finish with a 66-29 win.
The AHS squad led 23-6 after one then had a 44-18 lead at halftime.
Needless to say, the starters got a lot of rest throughout the contest and in the second half the Broncos outscored Concord 22-11 for the 37-point win.
Anderson was the lead scorer in the game, getting 20-points from under the basket, two foul shots and on lay-ups.
Hartson had one three-pointer and five baskets for 13-points and Floyd finished with eight-points on two three-points and a basket.
The Lady Broncos hosted a game against Concord Christian Academy (8-2) on Tuesday, Jan. 28, after the Hudson Times went to press. The following has the team heading to Manchester to play the Pioneers (3-7) of Trinity High School on Friday night, Jan. 31.
With ten games under their belt this season, the Lady Broncos have just nine games left before the playoffs. Alvirne currently sits in ninth place in the Division I standings.
