The Alvirne High School Girls’ and Boys’ Cross Country teams competed in two meets to start the fall season with the Bobcat Invitational and the Nashua North Invitational.
At the Bobcat Invitational, on Sept. 6, the Alvirne boys scored a 343, falling into 12th place in a field of 20 teams with Pinkerton Academy winning the event at 37-points.
The Broncos girls took fifth place with 163-points behind Oyster River (44); Hopkinton (71); Bedford (85) and Londonderry (134).
Sophomore Olivia Cartagena placed eighth in the race for the top Alvirne spot with a time of 21:24.3. The winning time came in at 18:49.1.
Other Lady Broncos finishers were: freshman Mekenna Simpson 13th (22:03.4); freshman Charlianna Downey, 37th (24:27.1); senior Candence Bice, 58th (27:03.2); and junior Leah Sturk, 63rd (27:50.4).
For the Broncos boys’ team, senior Sam Matson was the first AHS runner to cross the finish line, placing 49th with a time of 19:12.6. The winning time was 16:09.9.
Other Alvirne top finishers were: Freshman Aiden O’Leary, 66th (19:50.8); junior Roarke Brandt, 71st (19:59.7); sophomore Camden Griffith, 76th (20:11.7); sophomore Logan Hould, 94th (21:03.3).
At the Nashua North Invitational, the Alvirne Girls’ team took tenth and the boys’ team finished in 13th.
Sophomore Olivia Cartagena placed 18th in the team’s second race for the top Alvirne spot with a time of 20:30.72. The winning time came in at 17:45.12.
Other Lady Broncos finishers were: freshman Mekenna Simpson 31st (21:26.54); freshman Charlianna Downey, 54th (22:29.66); senior Candence Bice, 84th (25:01.15); senior Zoe Burt, 85th (25:05.15); and junior Leah Sturk, 97th (26:04.69).
For the Broncos boys’ team, senior Sam Matson was the first AHS runner to cross the finish line, placing 54th with a time of 17:52.29. The winning time was 15:37.66.
Other Alvirne top finishers were: Sophomore Camden Griffith, 72th (18:34.27); junior Ashton Rowe, 82nd (18:48.52); junior Roarke Brandt, 108 (19:24.22); sophomore Logan Hould, 112 (19:48.04); and freshman Aiden O’Leary, 114 (19:53.23).
The Alvirne Cross Country teams will be hosting their own invitational on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 23, at the Hill HouseX-C Course.
