Alvirne Admirals Move to 5-2 with Two Home Victories

The Alvirne-Milford Admirals hockey squad was able to boost their season record up to 5-2 with two convincing victories last week, making it four consecutive wins.
The Admirals were able to outscore their opponents 10-4 during the team’s two home games last week and rebound from the two shutout-losses earlier in the season.


On Wednesday night, Jan. 15, the Admirals took on Bishop Brady-MV where Alvirne female sophomore goaltender Ari Scarbro started in net and made 30 saves on 33 shots to help solidify the victory.
The Admirals controlled much of the pace of the game during the first two hard-hitting periods and allowed their opponents just three goals in the final minutes of the contest.
In the 6-3 victory over Bishop Brady-MV, junior Mason Tomkins set the tone of the game at 6:03, with the first goal, assisted by senior Bryce Larco and Alvirne junior Brandon Callahan.
The teams took a 1-0 score into the locker room after the first period, but in the second, the Admirals scored three more unanswered goals.
At the 12-minute mark, Milford senior forward Braydon Atwood made it 2-0 with an assist from Brandon Ganas.
Larco added a goal at 10:13 in the period, assisted by junior Chris Bozza and Callahan.
The final goal of the period went to Atwood, for his second of the night, at 7:36, with sophomore Dylan MacLeod assisting.
Leading 4-0 heading into the final period, Bishop Brady finally put one past Scarbro, at 13:02 in the third.
MacLeod quickly got that goal back, at 9:20 for the 5-1 Admiral lead.
At 6:14 Atwood scored his third goal of the night, assisted by MacLeod, to make it 6-1 until the three-minute mark.
In the final three-minutes, Bishop Brady got the remaining two goals of the game, scoring with a man advantage.
Over the weekend, in another home contest, the Admirals out-shot the squad from Somersworth-Coe-Brown 43-23 and came away with a 4-1 victory with Scarbro in net again.
The Admirals scored two in the first and two in the final period for the three-goal victory.
Ganas scored the opening goal at 6:50 in the first from Atwood and MacLeod.
MacLeod then made it 2-0 with the assist going to Tomkins at 12:41 in the first.
In the second period, Somersworth-Coe-Brown got on the board, halfway through the period.
Ganas got his second goal of the night in the third period at 8:24, from MacLeod and Bryce Larco.
Ryan Ricard followed with an empty-netter from Evan Pargas at 13:26 of the final period.
It was a rather rough games with the referees handing out 14-penaties, six going to the Admirals.
