The Hudson Memorial School Girls’ Soccer team has made it into the Semi-Finals of the Tri-County Middle School Championship playoffs with a 5-0 victory over Merrimack.
The quarterfinal win, at Memorial, on Friday, Oct. 25, was the tenth of the season for the Hudson Colts, allowing them to host Salem on Tuesday, Oct. 29, in the semifinals.
With a win, the Hudson squad will be able to host the finals on Friday afternoon at HMS.
In the five-point victory over Merrimack, the Colts offense dominated the play, most of which took place on the MMS side of the field.
Goals went to Leah Moreau, who had two in the game; Lia Brown, getting a goal and an assist; and Maura Hiller and Layla Jennings each put one into the back of the Merrimack net.
The Colts offense pounded the Merrimack goaltender, getting 17 shots in the game.
The Hudson tender needed just four stops for the five-point shutout.
This was the team’s second win over the Merrimack squad, winning in the regular season 8-0.
The Hudson team is hoping to bring their sixth Tri-County Middle School Championship trophy back to HMS, something that hasn’t been done since 2018.
The 10-0-1 HMS team consists of: Sophie Gravallese, Maura Hiller, Larissa Fabril, Celia Smalley, Hailey Stauch, Layla Jennings, Amelia Hone, Nora Woods, Saoirse Horgan, Piper Stedman, Shea Brown, Co-Captain Reese Wanamaker, Avery Newton, Kira DiZazzo, Co-Captain Lia Brown, Leah Moreau and Jayliana Ortiz.
